Uranium in drinking water? How to protect yourself and your family
Many people are unaware that uranium can be found in drinking water, especially in certain regions with uranium-bearing rock. While small amounts are considered harmless, long-term exposure can strain the kidneys and cause long-term health damage.
How does uranium get into the water?
Uranium is a naturally occurring heavy metal. It dissolves from rock layers in the soil and can enter the public water supply via groundwater. This factor is often underestimated, especially in rural areas and in private wells.

Why is an ion exchanger so effective?
Ion exchange technology is considered the most effective method for filtering uranium from drinking water. Uranium ions are replaced with harmless ions . This method has been established in water treatment for years and is particularly used in sensitive areas.

The ion exchanger softens the water, primarily removing magnesium and limescale. Softer water is especially suitable for watering flowers. Limescale-containing water is harmful to plants, as hard, calcareous water causes the soil to become increasingly alkaline. Deposits form on the edges of pots, on the substrate, and even on the plants themselves. The roots are particularly sensitive to limescale. They can no longer fulfill their functions, and the plant stunts.
The cartridges for the harmonei® water filter are consumables. You can order replacement cartridges here in the shop . These should be replaced after 8,000–10,000 liters, depending on the water contamination.
- If the taste of the water no longer meets your requirements.
- In countries with poor water quality, replacement is recommended after 6,000-8,000 liters.
- After 6 months or 50 hours of operation at the latest.
- After 10,000 liters at the latest.
Safety instructions
Please read the installation and operating instructions carefully before using the water filter to quickly become familiar with the device. This manual contains important information for installation, use, and maintenance and is included with every water filter. It is technically perfectly equipped with two vent valves, standard connections, and PROFIX screw fittings. The under-counter and wall-mounted models must be installed ONLY by a qualified professional!
